RADIANCE
As I explore the wilderness with my camera, I feel the energy of the warming sun and am awed by the beauty of how all living things are interconnected with water, rock and sky. By blending these living landscapes with water abstractions touched by colour and light, I recreate my feelings of being in communion with the land.
To convey these emotions I digitally combine two harmonious photographs from my personal archives of photographs. This meditative process is not unlike painting. Instead of adding paint to a canvas, I use a digital paint brush to gradually remove information from one photograph to reveal the contours of the land the lies beneath.
As a society we become less and less connected to nature as our impact on the planet intensifies. It’s vital that we refocus our attention on the natural world, be absorbed by its radiance and re-emerge empowered to protect it.
